Minted in Tristan da Cunha in 2005, the coin has
polished and satin finishes and is bezel-set in a
polished yellow gold frame. The front of the coin
depicts three swimming dolphins, while the nickname of
these beloved marine mammals—"Friends of the Sea"—is
embossed above them. On the reverse is a portrait of
Queen Elizabeth II, who is chief of state of the island
group.
Six polished-and-ribbed spokes extend from the outer
edge of the circular frame, resembling the handles of a
ship's steering wheel. This highly dimensional pendant
cleverly conceals a hidden bail behind the top spoke,
